I love everything about summer–taking early morning walks outside, bike rides, flip flops, shorts, fresh fruits and vegetables, festivals and fairs, fireworks, outdoor concerts, and the little bit of color I get from being in the sun. Yes, I do remember to use sunscreen.
The unprecedented quarantining from the CoronaVirus put a real damper on a few of those awesome activities last summer; I feel I have a lot to make up for, and I know I’m not alone.
With the approval of the governor’s office, much of Utah has “opened back up” and it feels like we are almost “back to normal.” As a result, many of my favorite things about this time of year are once again available–I’m totally engaged, and it feels magnificent! Everybody should get on board with spending some time outside!
Maybe you don’t like all the same kinds of things I like, but there’s something “outdoorsy” for everybody available in the Summer Passport Program. For starters, visit the Get Outdoors Adventure to get your family talking about the idea of visiting a National Park and making the most of it.
The App Hub is perfect for these outdoor Adventures. Just grab your phone, download the GooseChase app and head for the great outdoors! There are LOTS of outdoor Adventures available on the app! Be sure to check out a few of my favorites including Outdoor Concerts (I checked that one off already!), Park Passport, Hiking, Splash!, Bird Watching, Park Hop, Fishing, Feed the Ducks, Car Wash and Sleep Under the Stars . And there are TONS more where those came from.
Want to see what other families are doing in the great outdoors this summer? Be sure to join your local Discover Family Fun community where you can connect with other families to get more ideas of taking full advantage of the Summer Passport Program.
Not only will you be providing an opportunity to absorb some vitamin D but you’ll be making memories, strengthening family bonds, and building resilience in your children for almost no effort at all. All the work has already been done for you! What are you waiting for?
